PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper sheet transporting mechanism capable of corresponding to paper sheets with different thickness, a paper sheet direction converting mechanism, and a paper sheet stamping mechanism. SOLUTION: The transporting mechanism 1 has a driving roller 4 and a driven roller 6 opposed to each other through a transport passage 2. The driven roller 6 has a bilayer structure consisting of a rubber 21 contacting with the driving roller 4 and a sponge 22, and is fixedly arranged with a prescribed axle-to-axle distance relative to the driving roller 4 arranged fixedly.
