PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic document feeder capable of preventing speed reduction by decreasing a load when a document end enters a roller pair and preventing production of an abnormal picture image by shifting a rotational center even if a roller diameter is the same (shifting a nipping position of the roller pair). SOLUTION: This automatic document feeder on a picture image reading device is furnished with a separating part D to separate a document bundle into each document, a carrier means 23 to carry the separated document to a reading part, a reading means to read the carried document 1 by a fixed CCD, etc., a guide member 22 positioned on a downstream of a reading position and to scoop up the document and a driving means 102 to drive the carrier means, and it is constituted not to make rotation axes of rollers 23a, 23b which are the document carrier means correspond to each other.
