PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording apparatus which is compact, has a small maximum power consumption, and can record good images irrespective of kinds of recording media. SOLUTION: First light irradiation devices 17, 18, 19 and 20 are set at the downstream side of recording heads 13, 14, 15 and 16 to cure a surface of ink by irradiating light to the ink discharged from the recording heads 13, 14, 15 and 16. A second light irradiation device 21 is set at the downstream side of the first light irradiation devices 17, 18, 19 and 20 to completely cure the ink by irradiating light to the ink adhered to the recording medium. Moreover, a control part is set to control a quantity of light of the light irradiated by the first light irradiation devices 17, 18, 19 and 20 and the second light irradiation device 21 on the basis of the kind of the recording medium.
