PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To normally start a liquid injection device even when a carriage contacts a lock lever at a timing whereat the carriage is prevented from contacting the lock lever if the carriage is at a normal starting position. SOLUTION: There are set a liquid injection head for jetting a liquid, a cartridge for storing the liquid, the carriage movable in a main scanning direction with respect to a target, a carriage lock for locking the carriage through contact of the carriage with the carriage lock and preventing the movement of the carriage, a detecting part for detecting whether or not the carriage contacts the carriage lock when the liquid injection device starts and the carriage moves, and a control part for moving the carriage in the opposite direction and releasing locking of the carriage lock when the detecting part detects that the carriage contacts the carriage lock in the middle of the movement of the carriage.
