In order to inform the user and others properly of an end of photographing after a shutter has been released or of taking an object image has been completed, in an image pick-up apparatus having a flash 16, when lighting of the flash 16 is not necessary at a time of photographing, the flash 16 is made to turn on at a timing other than the time of photographing in relation to the time of photographing.
