A method for bedding rails into a road surface, e.g. for a tram system, has the rails wrapped on both sides and underneath with a mica filled insulation layer (1). The layer can be applied as a sheet or is painted onto the rail with a set thickness. The insulated rail is secured into the road by conventional means. The insulating layer is about 1 mm thick and is flexible.
