A golf clubhead including a face portion and a back face portion. The face portion is made of a light metal having a specific gravity not more than 5, and the back face portion is made of a clad material which is prepared by metallurgically jointing the light metal and a heavy metal having a specific gravity not less than 7. The light metal and the clad material are jointed to make an integral head by the TIG, plasma or laser welding method with U- and / or V-shaped grooves. This golf club can be improved in its joint strength and machined in a short period of time. The golf club is given a deep center of gravity, a low center of gravity and a large inertial moment so that it can be safely swung to make a high trajectory and a lomg distance of reach.
