<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide network connecting equipment capable of preventing forgery of a function expansion card at a low cost by using a MAC address for network connection as an equipment ID. <P>SOLUTION: This equipment comprises a main control means 101 having the function of conforming an equipment body to a function expansion cards by writing the MAC address natural to the network connecting equipment including a printer or a composite machine in a specified area of function expansion cards 110, 111, and 113, reading, when starting, the equipment ID written in the specified area of the installed function-enhanced card to collate it with the MAC address of its own machine, validating the function expansion only when the both are matched, and invalidating the function expansion when the both are not matched. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
