<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially practicable method for producing a fluorinated alkylalkoxyphenol having the possibility as a liquid crystal material. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the fluorinated alkylalkoxyphenol is carried out as follows. A sulfonic acid ester derivative represented by general formula (1): F(CF<SB>2</SB>)<SB>m</SB>(CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>n</SB>OSO<SB>2</SB>-C<SB>6</SB>H<SB>4</SB>-R (wherein, m is an integer of 1-18; n is an integer of 0-12; and R is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group) is reacted with a dihydroxybenzene derivative represented by general formula (2): HO-C<SB>6</SB>H<SB>4</SB>-OR' (wherein, R' is a protecting group of a hydroxy group) to provide an ether derivative represented by general formula (3): F(CF<SB>2</SB>)<SB>m</SB>(CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>n</SB>O-C<SB>6</SB>H<SB>4</SB>-OR' [wherein, m, n and R' are each the same as defined in general formulae (1), (2) and (3)].
