PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying an acrylamidoalkanesulfonic acid in high speed and high efficiency by a simple installation, process and operation. SOLUTION: This method for purifying the acrylamidoalkanesulfonic acid comprises removing water by distilling an aqueous solution of the crude acrylamidoalkanesulfonic acid in the presence of an organic solvent forming azeotrope with the water to provide a dispersion in which the crystals of the acrylamidoalkanesulfonic acid are dispersed in the organic solvent, and filtering the dispersion.
