PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chlorine generator where electrodes can held to be clean, thus, the electrolysis of raw water can stably be performed, and reduction in the generation efficiency of chlorine caused by the stain of the electrodes can be prevented by a relatively single constitution. SOLUTION: In the chlorine generator 1, raw water containing chlorine ions is electrolyzed, so that chlorine-containing water W is generated. The chlorine generator 1 is provided with: an electrolysis tank 11 to be fed with raw water; a pair of electrodes 12 arranged at the inside of the electrolysis tank 11, and generating the chlorine-containing water W by electrolyzing the raw water in the electrolysis tank 11, a wiper 13 provided freely slidably on the surfaces of a pair of the electrodes 12, and cleaning the surfaces of a pair of the electrodes 12; and a wiper driving part 25 driving the wiper 13.
