PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for applying a protective layer formation material capable of applying the protective layer formation material on the surface of a vehicle appropriately and efficiently. SOLUTION: An application system 10 comprises a first application station ST1, a second application station ST2 and a third application station ST3 in order from the upstream side in the conveyance direction of the vehicle 14. Therein, application devices 11a, 11b, 11c are disposed on the respective application stations ST1, ST2, ST3. In the first application station ST1, the protective layer formation material is supplied to a desired part on the surface of the vehicle 14, for example, a nearly central part of a hood part 14a or a roof central part 14b. In the second application station ST2, the protective layer formation material supplied to the desired part is brought into contact with a roller 48 of the application device 11b and, thereafter, is extended by the roller 48.
