PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new technology on a base isolating method and a base isolating member for the method for reducing vibration transmitted to a building or the like at the occurrence of an earthquake. SOLUTION: A foundation plate single body 3 of square shape fixedly provided around a cup body 2 storing and supporting a base isolating sphere 1 in a freely rotatable manner, and an aseismatic plate single body 4 of inner surface shape formed slightly higher at the center and formed with gentle inclination gently lowered toward the peripheral edge, constitute a base isolating member A of one unit by placing the aseismatic plate single body 4 to face the upper face of the foundation plate single body 3 in the freely movable state of the base isolating sphere 1 positioned at the center. The required unit number of the base isolating members A are laid in the continuous state of the foundation plate single bodies 3 on the ground of required area in need of base isolation, with mortar N placed on the leveled ground M, to integrate them with the ground. A required structure R is constructed on the upper faces of the continuous aseismatic plate single bodies 4 supported on the thus laid foundation plate single bodies 3 by the spheres 1.
