PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dephosphorizing material which can reduce generation of fine precipitation of hydroxyapatite over a long period of time while efficiently removing phosphate ions in water, and can realize stable removal of the phosphate ions, and a dephosphorizing method using the dephosphorizing material. SOLUTION: A calcium silicate compound such as wollastonite is subjected to dry or wet grinding to be activated, and then is carried on a ceramic filter medium. Subsequently, the ceramic filter medium carrying the calcium silicate compound is subjected to carbonation treatment, thereby obtaining the dephosphorizing material. The dephosphorizing material is disposed so that water can pass through the material, thereby removing the phosphate ions in the water. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
