An automatic preparation system for raw doner kebab rolls has the rolls held vertically and trimmed by automatic cutters into the required tapering shape with a wider to end. The rolls are moved in a vertical position on a conveyor feed and the cutters are driven by a controlled drive. The tapering effect is generated either by progressive variation of the drive or by tilting the rolls slightly. Different sizes of rolls are trimmed with the same cutters. An improved design has two conveyor feeds past a central cutting station.
