<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a recording medium provided with a protecting layer which is flat and homogeneous over the whole surface. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid drops of an ultraviolet curing resin solution are jetted onto a rotating substrate 1 by using liquid drop jet head 103 which can control and jet minute liquid drops. A large number of liquid drops of the ultraviolet curing resin solution are attached uniformly on the substrate by moving the liquid drop jet head 103 from the inner circumference of the substrate to the outer circumference to form a coating film. The obtained coating film is extremely flat over the whole surface, and such an annular protruding part of the outer circumference that is formed by the spin coating method is not formed.
