<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus which enhances the reproducibility of low-concentration fine lines of an image. <P>SOLUTION: A surrounding pixel edge detection means and a low-concentration correction processing means are provided. The surrounding pixel edge detection means investigates the pixel values of surrounding pixels in a specified range around a noticed pixel concerning inputted multi-level image data, determines whether the noticed pixel is contained in an edge region, and detects an edge amount. The low-concentration correction processing means determines whether the noted pixel is a low-concentration pixel, applies specified low-concentration processing to the noted pixel, and corrects the pixel value of the noticed pixel when the noticed pixel is determined as a low-concentration pixel, and when the surrounding pixel edge detection means determines that the noticed pixel is an edge pixel. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
