<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deterioration of the reading performance of a reader part without increasing the cost, as for an image forming apparatus wherein the reader part is heated due to the heat of a printer part and the reading performance of the reader part is deteriorated when the temperature of the reader part becomes high. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus equipped with the reader part for reading an image and a printer part for forming an image on a recording medium, the temperature of the reader part is detected (step 2003), the temperature is compared with a printing inhibition temperature Tmax (step 2003), and when the temperature of the reader part 200 is higher than the temperature Tmax, the operation advances to a step 2004, and waits for the cooling down of the reader part, on the other hand, if not so, the operation advances to a step 2009, and an image forming operation is performed.
