PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for accelerating phase displacement such as evaporation of misty droplets such as seawater jet with a high processing efficiency. SOLUTION: A planar element for accelerating the phase displacement of the misty droplets through contact heat exchange with the droplets has first and second regions with different thermal conductivity and/or wettability formed on its surface. Increased heat transfer from the planar element to the misty droplets induces efficient phase displacement of the misty droplets. To be more specific, the seawater jet can be efficiently evaporated to realize highly efficient desalination. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
