ELECTROPHORETIC DISPLAY MEDIUM, ELECTROPHORETIC DISPLAY DEVICE, AND ELECTROPHORETIC PARTICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoretic display medium with which high reflectance and high contrast are made to be compatible with each other, and to provide an electrophoretic display device and electrophoretic particles. SOLUTION: The electrophoretic display medium has an electrically insulating carrier liquid and the electrophoretic particles dispersed in the carrier liquid. The optical reflection characteristics of the electrophoretic particles are changed by electrophoresing at least a kind of the electrophoretic particles by the action of controlling voltage applied in a defined direction. The electrophoretic display medium comprises at least a kind of the electrophoretic particles which consist of a colorant and resin with 8.5 or more solubility parameter (S. P. value) kneaded together. The electrophoretic display device uses the electrophoretic display medium. Because the electrophoretic particles are practically insoluble in the carrier liquid, excellent display characteristics are obtained and high dispersion stability is provided.
