PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain image quality which is free of ground staining for a long period even in the case of polymerized toner with large mean circularity by effectively suppressing cleaning defects without making the linear pressure of a cleaning blade abnormally high. SOLUTION: Surface roughness and frictional resistance of a photoreceptor 1 and surface roughness of an edge 10a of the cleaning blade 10 are prescribed to optimum values so that 0.1μm≤Rz<SB>JIS</SB>≤1.0μm, 45gf<Rf<200gf, and the surface roughness of the edge 10a of the cleaning blade 10 which is abutted in a counter direction on a photoreceptor 1 is≤70μm, where Rz<SB>JIS</SB>is 10-point mean roughness of the surface of the photoreceptor and Rf is the frictional resistance between the photoreceptor 1 and a polyurethane rubber belt which is measured under specified conditions. Consequently, excellent cleaning performance can be maintained even in the case of spherical toner having large mean circularity and images of high quality can be provided for a long period.
