PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a single cylinder type shock absorber in which a bracket or the like which is low in cost and can be welded with a cylinder. SOLUTION: The single cylinder type shock absorber comprises a piston 8 movably inserted into the cylinder 1, and a rod 4 connected to the piston 8, where one or more members 3 to be connected are fixed around the cylinder 1 by welding. A enlarged diameter part 2 is provided at one or more parts of the cylinder 1, and the members 3 to be connected are welded on the outer circumference of the enlarged diameter part 2.
