PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a star-shaped polymer having polymer chains, including at least three polyolefin chains, extending radially from the central core thereof, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The novel star-shaped polymer is manufactured by the reaction of a polyolefin having a functional group at its end represented by general formula (I) [wherein P is a polymer chain obtained by homopolymerizing or copolymerizing an olefin represented by CH<SB>2</SB>=CHR<SP>1</SP>(wherein R<SP>1</SP>is a group or an atom selected among a 1-20C hydrocarbon group, a hydrogen atom and a halogen atom); and X is a heteroatom or a heteroatom-containing group] with a multi-functional low-molecular weight compound (A) having at least three functional groups, and has a structure where at least three polymer chains are bonded to the central core and at least one polymer chain obtained by homopolymerizing or copolymerizing the olefin represented by CH<SB>2</SB>=CHR<SP>1</SP>(wherein R<SP>1</SP>is the same as in general formula (I)) is bonded to the central core.
