PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spool for thermal transfer films having a non-contact type information communication tag capable of communicating by electric waves which is easy to manufacture, can reduce manufacturing costs, can solve the problem of separation, flaw or forgery by preventing the tag from being exposed to an outer face, and can communicate information good in a non-contact manner with a transmitting/receiving device of a printer body side. SOLUTION: The spool for thermal transfer films which is used to supply or take up the thermal transfer film is formed in a shape at least with a cylindrical winding core 1 and rotary shafts 2 and 2a set at its both ends. Moreover, one rotary shaft 2a is shaped at least to have an insertion part 3a which is to be inserted inside of an end of the winding core 1, and a shaft part 4a set at the outside of the insertion part. A pocket part 8a of a concave groove shape which is slim and deep is provided at the insertion part 3a.
