<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for partial strengthening only an area necessary to be strengthened of a metallic material with a good formability and a relatively low strength (hardness and yield strength) by a press work. <P>SOLUTION: The partial strengthening method of the metallic material comprises a first press process of forming an uneven surface by imparting plastic strain through a plastic flow of the material to the top and bottom surfaces of the area to be strengthened of the metallic material, and a second press process of forming a flat surface by imparting plastic strain through an additional plastic flow on the uneven surface formed before. In the second press process, the flat surface can also be formed by imparting hydrostatic pressure to the pressing direction and shearing force to the planar direction simultaneously. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
