PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure external force detector with a facilitated execution method for detecting a damaged position, etc. of a structure, and also to provide a structure external force detecting method. SOLUTION: This detector is equipped with: an external force responsive member 1 comprising a piezoelectric material for generating a voltage due to a piezoelectric effect by thereto giving a stress and substantially helically wound/stuck on an outer surface of a main reinforcing bar 206; a first conductor member 22a electrically connected to the responsive member 11; a second conductor member 22b electrically connected to the responsive member 11; and an ammeter 41 attached to the other ends of the conductor members 22a and 22b for detecting electricity.
