PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glow plug with a combustion pressure detection function capable of appropriately detecting change of combustion pressure and a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: This glow plug 100 with the combustion pressure detection function is provided with a housing 1, a sheath member 3, a heater member 4, and a center shaft 2. The glow plug 100 is provided with a combustion pressure detection mechanism 50 including a piezoelectric element converting axial displacement of the sheath member generated by change of combustion pressure of an internal combustion engine EG to electrical signal. The combustion pressure detection mechanism 50 is constructed by thrededly fixing the glow plug 100 on the internal combustion engine EG to increase compressive stress acting on the piezoelectric element 51 along an axial direction as combustion pressure increase.
