摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binding method for miniaturizing a sheet post-processing device. SOLUTION: First, a sheet S is conveyed in the forward direction along a conveyance passage, and conveyance of the sheet is stopped after detecting a rear end of the sheet by a sensor 23 (Fig. a). Next, the sheet is conveyed in the reverse direction along the conveyance passage to detect the rear end of the sheet again by the sensor 23 (Fig. b), and conveyance of the sheet in the reverse direction is continued by predetermined amount corresponding to length in the direction of sheet conveyance after detecting the rear end to stop the sheet (Fig. c). Then, a fold is given to the sheet by a sheet folding unit 28 arranged in the conveyance passage (Fig. d). After that, the sheet is conveyed in the forward direction and is supplied onto a staple tray, and a plurality of sheets are accumulated on the staple tray while rear ends of the sheets are aligned to form a bundle of sheets. A stapler and the bundle of sheets are relatively moved based on length in the direction of sheet conveyance to drive a staple needle into the bundle of sheets by the stapler.
