PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aligning device and method for products of any size to be fed into an automatic packaging machine. SOLUTION: Products 13, 13', 13'' of any thickness or size are fed by sheet placers 14, 14', 14'' to a conveyor system 11 equipped with a plurality of pushers 12 which are positioned at a certain interval one behind the other with a predetermined distance, and are stacked one on top of the other and transferred to the packaging area in a sheet of wrapping film or paper. The aligning device is positioned downstream of the sheet placers and contains one engagement element 16 that is brought into contact with the front end of the fed product as it travels forward, and aligning the product with its respective pusher 12 and moving away from the product to permit its travel toward the packaging area, or toward a further sheet placer.
