摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that illuminance variations on a dispaly section occur depending on the posions of ligtht sources in a backlight device having a plurality of light sources (to avoid the cosine cube law). <P>SOLUTION: A backlight device includes a plurality of light sources, and reflection plates. Refelction elements for reflecting light from the light sources are formed on the surfaces of the reflection plates. In the case that irradiation surfaces of the backlight device of the present invention formed at the positions opposed to the reflection plates sandwiching the light sources are considered, the refelction elements are designed to reflect a light received from one light source among the plurality of light sources onto the region to which a light source adjacent to the one light source irradiates in the irradiation surface, and the refelction elements receiving a light from the one light source are designed, the nearer they are positioned to the one light source, to irradiate the farther part from the adjacent light source, within the region of the irradiation surface, to which the light source adjacent to the one light source irradiates. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
