<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small or thin permanent magnet having S/V=6 mm<SP>-1</SP>or above representing good magnetic characteristics without performing a heat treatment for recovering the characteristics after grinding. <P>SOLUTION: The permanent magnet material produces a sintered magnet having an R-Fe-B based composition (R is one kind or more than one kinds being selected from rare earth elements including Y) having mean crystal grain size in main phase of 5μm or less determined from surface integral rate, ground to have a specific surface area of 6 mm<SP>-1</SP>or above, and having a volume integral rate (%) in the surface deterioration layer not higher than 0.5×S/V (S/V is specific surface area and the unit is mm<SP>-1</SP>). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
