<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an element for removing NO<SB>x</SB>and a NO<SB>x</SB>removing method reducing power consumption by making the element for removing NO<SB>x</SB>having a high diffusing capacity of an oxygen ion. <P>SOLUTION: The element for removing NO<SB>x</SB>comprises a substrate 1 comprising a solid electrolyte, capable of retaining the oxygen ion in the inside of a bonding structure of atoms to each other and exhibiting a conductivity by movement of the oxygen ion itself by application of a voltage; and a positive electrode 3 and a negative electrode 2 formed on a surface of a substrate. The oxygen ion is drawn out from NO<SB>x</SB>in an atmosphere to reduce it to N<SB>2</SB>in the negative electrode 2, and the drawn out oxygen ion is released from the positive electrode 3 as oxygen. Since the movement of the oxygen ion in the substrate 1 is not the indirect movement through lattice defect but the direct movement of the oxygen ion itself, required energy is small. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
