PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the design and manufacturability of a cascade thermoelectric conversion element. SOLUTION: Two or more thermoelectric conversion elements having different capability are connected in multistage to form a cascade thermoelectric conversion element and the thermoelectric conversion elements of each stage are connected electrically in parallel. Number of thermoelectric elements constituting a thermoelectric conversion element having a high capability is set smaller than the number of thermoelectric elements constituting a thermoelectric conversion element having a low capability being connected therewith. A cascade thermoelectric conversion element having a high cooling efficiency can be manufactured by utilizing the temperature characteristics of a thermoelectric material.
