PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration of display performance near the outermost edge of a light emitting area, in forming a light emitting area of an organic EL element. SOLUTION: The deposition mask 10 forms a deposition pattern of an organic layer including a light emitting function layer so as to cover light emitting area forming parts 3R, 3G, 3B, and has a hole 10A corresponding to the deposition pattern. In an area outside the outermost edge of the hole 10A, a dummy hole 10D is provided which is not used for depositing an organic layer forming a light emitting area. The dummy hole 10D forms a dummy pattern 20 of an organic layer on a substrate 1 in the outside of the outermost edge E (display area) of the light emitting area, and inside an adhesive agent forming area F for sealing.
