PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a system operation stop time when any failure is generated by asynchronously executing memory dump in an environment where a signal operating system is operating. SOLUTION: This computer system equipped with a main storage device 20, an auxiliary storage device 30 and a central processing unit 10 comprises a first means 11 for setting the main storage device as a normal use area 22 to be used for a normal operation and a reserve area 23 to be unused for the normal operation and a second means 12 for deciding whether or not memory dump should be executed when any failure is generated in the middle of the normal operation in the computer system. Furthermore, this computer system comprises a third means 13 for applying the reserve area to the operation as the normal use area when it is decided that the memory dump should be executed by the second means, and for executing the memory dump of the normal use area when any failure is generated and a fourth means 14 for newly securing the reserve area from the memory area when the memory dump is ended by the third means.
