PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new orientation substrate, where a molecular tube is fixed on a substrate surface in a state in which orientation properties are improved by utilizing the inclusion interaction between alkane thiol and the molecular tube, and to provide a method of manufacturing the new orientation substrate. SOLUTION: In the orientation substrate containing a metal, alkanethiol, and the molecular tube, alkanethiol is stuck to a metal surface, and the molecular tube is included in the alkanethiol. The metal to be used may be any metal for sticking the alkanethiol. In a publicly known metal, for example, gold, silver, copper or platinum, and the like are listed. Additionally, the metal may be a complex between metal and a nonmetal, and for example a complex, or the like, of gold, silver, copper or platinum, and mica is listed.
