PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a moving handrail device of a passenger conveyor achieving the effect of rubbing and cleaning the inner surface of the handrail by displacing a cleaning device opposed to the handrail as required. SOLUTION: The cleaning device 18 is usually apart from the inner surface of the moving handrail 4 by an actuation mechanism 12. The mechanism 12 is actuated by the operation of a control device 19, then the cleaning device 18 is brought into contact with the inner surface of the handrail 4. Thus, the inner surface is rubbed and foreign materials are removed by the movement of the handrail 4. Accordingly, the cleaning device 18 is not required to rub the inner surface all the time, thus early abrasion is prevented. Furthermore, it is permanently arranged in an opposed state to the handrail 4, thus saving labor for temporary installation and removal during maintenance operation.
