PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical optical writing device and an image forming device that are free from image defects, that enable a polygon mirror to be stably rotated, and that generate no abnormal sound. SOLUTION: This optical writing device is equipped with a polygon motor 15b that has at least one closely arranged laser light source and that deflects/scans a laser beam emitted from the laser light source by using a rotating polygon mirror 15a, a lens system by which more than one laser beam scanned by the polygon mirror 15a is coupled onto a photoreceptor 1, a housing 12 that holds the polygon motor 15b and the lens system, and a cover 19 that is fixed in a manner covering at least the polygon motor 15b and the lens system and hermetically sealing the inside of the housing 12.
