PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for remotely maintaining and monitoring an elevator installation which is economical and highly flexible in selection and forms of a remote maintenance function. SOLUTION: The device is a remote maintenance and monitoring device (17) of an elevator installation (1), and comprises at least one input (18) for detecting a first signal from an elevator controller (7) and/or sensors (8, 10, 11, 28, 29, 30, 31), at least one output (15) for outputting a second signal to telecommunication networks (16, 24), and at least one processor and data memory.
