Even if therefore the beam diameter of signal light is magnified before the spatial optical modulator 104, the beam diameter of the signal light obtained after successively passing the spatial optical modulator 104, the Fourier transform lens 105 and the inverse Fourier transform lens 106 is made smaller than the beam diameter of the signal light before incidence on the Fourier transform lens 105. At the time of reproduction, only the reference light is irradiated and is diffracted to the optical axis direction of the signal light by an interference pattern, by which reproducing light is formed.
