<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely perform an operation such as reproduction and video-recording by a simple operation when a power supply is turned on and the initialization of a hard disk has been completed. <P>SOLUTION: When the recording and reproducing device receives an input from an operation keyboard in the OFF state of the power source, the device judges whether or not the input is made by a special operation other than normal. If it is a special operation, the device adopts this operation as effective one, and turns on the power source to start initializing the hard disk. The device temporarily stores the operation signal by the special operation.
