PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time required for reproducing main image data, in an image processing apparatus for reproducing the image data via an internal memory. SOLUTION: In a camera mode, a TIFF file storing the main image data so that predetermined conditions are satisfied is recorded in a recording medium 42 by a CPU 46. In a reproduction mode, if the TIFF file is selected, the TIFF file itself is transferred from the recording medium 42 to an SDRAM 34, and the main image data contained in the TIFF file are subjected to reproducing processing by an ASIC 24. In this case, the predetermined conditions include a condition that the deviation amount between the head position of the TIFF file and the head position of the main image data is an integer multiple of "4" which is the number of bites storable in one address of the SDRAM 34.
