PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stator in which the space factor of a coil in a slot is enhanced through a simple arrangement. SOLUTION: The armature comprises an annular stator core 2 provided with first teeth 6 and second teeth 7 formed alternately while sandwiching slots 8, a lower opening coils 4 being fitted in the lower parts 8b of the slots while winding the first teeth 6, and an upper opening coils 3 being fitted in the upper parts 8a of the slots while winding the second teeth 7. The first tooth 6 has a constant width over the entire length, the second tooth 7 has an upper part 7a of constant width narrower than the lower part 7b, and the slot 8 has a uniform width on the rear side (lower part) 8b and at the upper part 8a.
