PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To get a small, high-efficiency, and high-output rotary machine by making the dimensions of a stator small. SOLUTION: This is a stator that has a stator iron core, having a plurality of slots and coils incorporated in the slots of the stator iron core. For the coil in each of the slots, two or more pieces are provided, and furthermore, the two or more coils are bent severally inwardly and outwardly in the radial direction of the stator. By adopting this configuration, the inner space and the outer space in the radial direction can be utilized properly, and this enables shortening of the length in the rotary machine's axial direction of the rotary machine and the length in the stator's radial direction of the coil, without winding the coil about in a complicated manner at the end face of the stator.
