PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tonneau cover device for an automobile, which does not disturb the opening and closing operation of a rear door even when the width of a tonneau cover body is set so as to cover the whole of the upper part of a luggage room. SOLUTION: When a winding mechanism 1 is provided on a rear door 5 side and a catching recess 6b for catching the drawing-out side end 2a of the tonneau cover body 2 is arranged on the front side of a side wall 6a of the luggage room 6, a cover bending bar 8 for bending the tonneau cover body 2 when the rear door 5 is opened is provided on the side wall 6a of the luggage room 6 so as to be located on the upper surface side of the tonneau cover body 2 positioned between the drawing-out side end 2c and the winding mechanism 1. By this configuration, the movement of the tonneau cover body 2 up to the neighborhood of the ceiling portion 4a of the automobile 4 is prevented even if the winding mechanism 1 side of the cover body 2 is drawn by the door 5 when the door is opened.
