PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drying device capable of preventing drying irregularities of objects to be treated and efficiently drying the objects to be treated by making hot air pass almost uniformly over the axial direction of a drum. SOLUTION: The drying device 1 is provided with a case body 2 having an object-to-be-treated feeding part 6, a drum 5 freely rotatably provided in a laterally-facing state inside a drying treatment chamber 4 formed inside the case body 2 and provided with air permeability for housing the object to be treated which is fed from the object-to-be-treated feeding part 6, a rotary drive mechanism 26 for rotating the drum 5, a heating unit 11 for heating introduced outdoor air, and an exhaust unit 12 for discharging the hot air to the outside. On the section wall 3 of the drying treatment chamber 4, a supply air entrance 13 communicating with the heating unit 11 and a discharge air exit 14 communicating with the exhaust unit 12 are opened. The opening shapes of the supply air entrance 13 and the discharge air exit 14 are formed such that the opening widths D and T of parts away from the heating unit 11 and the exhaust unit 12 are wider than the opening widths d and t of the parts near them.
