The use of a composition of one or more aminoalcohol buffers in combination with one or more antimicrobial agents to disinfect contact lenses and preser ve ophthalmic lens compositions is described. Ophthalmic lens solutions containing compositions of one or more aminoalcohol buffers in combination with one or more antimicrobial agents and methods of making and using the sa me are also described.
