<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic effective image color extracting method, an image color restoring method and database production and image search methods using the same with which image search performance can be improved by automatically extracting the effective color generated in a photographed image and restoring the original color of the image by correcting the effective color in accordance with the environment wherein a predetermined illumination is present, the state of mounting a color lens (color filter) on video equipment and characteristics of the video equipment. <P>SOLUTION: All pixels of an image frame are compared with a predetermined first threshold to find an average hue value (Hue<SB>-</SB>Ave) of a hue of each pixel with luminance smaller than the first threshold, a hue corresponding to the average hue value (Hue<SB>-</SB>Ave) is then calculated, and the calculated hue is determined as the effective color. The effective color is utilized to correct the color of the image affected by the effective color, and the original color of the image is restored, thereby further improving the image search performance of an image search system. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
