<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for optically switching a target packet independently of the length of packets. <P>SOLUTION: The optical packet switching apparatus is configured to include: a packet generating section 50; an optical trigger signal extract section 10; an optical switch control signal generating section 34; and an optical packet switching section 38. The packet generating section generates packets each comprising a start bit and an end bit, and data bits sandwiched by the bits. The optical trigger signal extract section extracts the start bit and the end bit configuring the packet as an optical trigger signal. The optical switch control signal generating section generates an optical pulse signal whose pulse width is equal to the length of the packet. The optical packet switching section is configured with an optical fiber loop switch for its major component, extracts the packet whose packet length is equal to the optical pulse width of the optical switch control signal, and switches the packet. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
