ANTIMICROBIAL YARN AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING ANTIMICROBIAL YARN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antimicrobial tinsel having sufficient antimicrobial properties while retaining gloss possessed by a tinsel and having excellent economical efficiency reducing the production process without causing an increase in the amount of the antimicrobial agent used and to provide a method for producing the antimicrobial tinsel.

SOLUTION: An antimicrobial yarn is characterized as follows. A film (1a) made of a synthetic resin or a laminate having a film layer (1b) made of the synthetic resin is cut to provide a flat yarn (3a). An antimicrobial layer (4) is coated and formed on the whole periphery in the longitudinal direction including cut surfaces (30) of the flat yarn (3a).
